On Politics and Fans: Part 2

I received the following email today:

By the way, none of my business, but as a suggestion, I would not “tie” your blog into your musical activities. (Not all of your fans are going to share your politics and may be putt off by some of your comments.)

If all my readers (all two of you as far as I know) shared my politics what would be the point of the blog?

In case some of us haven’t noticed, there’s a war going on. Seems to me a couple of lost CD sales pales in comparison with the carnage taking place every week that we remain in Iraq. When/if this war ends, I will consider moving my political blog to a separate location. For now it stays here.

  1. What bothers me is that the troops think they’re fighting for our freedom, fighting to keep us safe. Saddam Hussein was never a threat to our freedom or safety. He was just a little guy that W thought would be easy to beat and that he’d take the people’s mind off bin Laden. All those Arabs look alike anyway, right? Now that he’s killed all these people, he has to keep it going to save face. He doesn’t know anybody who’s died and doesn’t care.

  2. It seems to me from listening to alternative media that there are a lot of soldiers who are upset about the war in Iraq, but they are not allowed to speak out publicly while they are over there.

If you listen to Randi Rhodes’ show on Air America, soldiers are frequently calling up, giving detailed descriptions of what’s going on and talking about how discouraged they are.

Look at the heartbreaking letter that Lila Lipscomb reads from her son in Iraq after his death, where he talks about what a waste the war is.

Yes, Saddam Hussein never did anything to the US. Meanwhile Bin Laden goes free and the Muslim fundamentalists are back in power in large parts of Afganistan.

Guess we’re up to at least 3 readers now.
